There are many different ways to earn money via your own websites but what type of websites do the best? Here we take a look at some of the most popular websites that earn webmasters a good income.

1. Your own blog. A personal blog probably wouldn’t do as well as one related to something in general, but a blog related to web development for example would attract visitors who are interested in reading new content about web development. A lot of webmasters run more than one blog at any one time so if they are running ten blogs they would in theory – be earning ten times as much. This isn’t usually the case, because then you would be spending ten times as less per blog which could have an adverse effect.

2. Your own forum. A successful web developer at some point in their career has probably setup a forum community of their own. Whether it was successful or not it really is a part of the learning curve in web development and can teach you different aspects of the industry such as marketing, advertising, promotion, programming and design. You will know when you have a successful forum because you will have thousands of registrations on a weekly basis and have well over one hundred thousand active board members.

3. Adsense based websites. If you are reading this you would have already heard about Google Adsense and how it can benefit your monthly income if you know how to use it. Basically an Adsense based website is strictly a website you’ve setup based around keywords you want to earn money from. So if you’re setting up a website about “Soccer” you may want to add content around your website based around the keywords “Soccer boots” or “Soccer teams”. A good tip when building websites like this is to relate them to finance and health because people have had great success using these industries in the past.

4. Proxy websites. I used to run a proxy network of around 25 proxy websites and used to earn $75 a day via Google Adsense. Unfortunately as more and more proxy websites got blocked each day I didn’t have the time to run all 25 websites so I sold the network for $1500. Whether you earn good money from proxies or not, if you setup a network you can sell it for a good price if it is earning half decent revenue.

5. Adult and gambling websites. Many webmasters don’t like to get involved with these types of websites because they can easily clash with terms and conditions with advertising programs. Not only that – a lot of web hosting providers don’t allow their clients to host adult or gambling content so there will be more hassle trying to find an offshore hosting provider. Putting both problems aside, providing adult and gambling content for your visitors can put a lot of money in your pocket if marketed right.
